48 Hour Production Rally
In 2009 Expresión en Corto challenged film schools and universities from across Mexico to participate in the very first 48-Hour Collegiate Production Rally. Universities were invited to submit 3-5 minute short fiction scripts, with open theme and subject matter, written by currently enrolled university students. The eight selected universities competed against each other in Guanajuato Capital during the festival, as they raced to shoot, edit and present a short film (in High Definition Video) in 48 Hours.
In 2010, the competing scripts will carry the theme of “Liberty”, in observance of our Bicentennial Celebrations. Each selected university will assemble a 12-person production team, consisting of a: Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Sound Technician, Lighting Technician, Editor(s), Set Designer, Wardrobe, Make-up, at least 2 Actors, Production Assistant, etc. All locations, sets, props and wardrobe must be sourced within Guanajuato, meaning the eight teams must literally knock on the doors of the Guanajuato community and ask for these items to be lent for the production. Each script must contain at least 2 main characters/actors, 4 separate shooting locations, including 2 daytime scenes and 2 night time scenes, and both indoor and outdoor sequences.
The eight short films will be presented on July 30th 2010 in the Guanajuato State Auditorium before thousands of audience members and hundreds of national and international media outlets. The winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremonies on July 31st in the same auditorium.
