EXPRESIÓN EN CORTO & AVON MEXICO PRESENT THE
4th SPEAK OUT AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
SHORT FILM CONTEST 2010
1.- EXPRESIÓN EN CORTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL and AVON MEXICO join forces in the SPEAK OUT AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHORT FILM CONTEST which aims to raise awareness against domestic violence around the world.
2.- The CALL FOR ENTRIES will be launched on May 15th, 2010 and remain open until October 1st, 2010, the Deadline for Entries. The Awards Ceremony will be celebrated on November 23rd, 2010 in Mexico City.
3.- CATEGORIES AND FORMATS Short Fiction, Animation, Experimental and Documentary films produced in any year, in any film or video format, of up to 20 minutes in length, will be accepted.
4.- THEME Speak Out Against Domestic Violence.
5.- CONDITIONS
A- In order to qualify for participation, films must be registered through the Online Registration Form available on www.expresionencorto.com No registration fee will be charged for participation in this competition.
B- There is no limit to the amount of short films or documentaries that a filmmaker or producer may register.
C- The maximum duration of short films and documentaries in all categories is 20 minutes, including credits.
D- In order to be admitted, the materials must be presented in Spanish, English, or with subtitles in either of these two languages.
E- Three (3) DVD copies of each film in Multiregional format are required. These copies shall not be returned.
F- Please also submit an Electronic Press Kit, providing the following information on CD:
• Still photo from the film (in Color at 300 dpi, or High Resolution)
• Synopsis of the film (in Spanish and English)
• Brief Biography of the Director (in Spanish and English)
• Director's Photograph (in Color at 300 dpi, or High Resolution)
• Film Credits
G- The deadline for registration and delivery of materials is October 1st, 2010.
H- All shipping expenses of the participating works, from their place of origin to the address of this organization, shall be paid exclusively by the participant. The Festival will not be responsible for the cost of receiving any additional materials (cassettes, posters, photos, etc.).
I- The Organizers will determine the date and order of exhibition of each work.
J- Once a film has been submitted, it cannot be withdrawn from the competition.
K- No screening fees will be paid.
L- Selected films will automatically form part of the Expresión en Corto y Avon Mexico traveling showcase, participating in festivals, educational and cultural events around the world without having to pay any screening fees.
6.- SELECTION AND JURY The selection of the films will be the responsibility of the Expresión en Corto and Avon Mexico by means of a jury, made up of film industry professionals and experts in the field of Domestic Violence, whose names shall be announced shortly before the Awards Ceremony. The jury's decision is final and cannot be appealed.
7.- EXHIBITION
An official selection will be made from the admitted works to this contest. The works may be selected for showcases out of competition in events organized by Expresión en Corto, A.C. and Avon Mexico and may be fully or partially disseminated by these companies, its affiliates, its subsidiaries and any third party authorized by them without having to pay any screening fees.
8.- AWARDS
Avon Mexico and the Expresión en Corto International Film Festival shall give each of the participants selected for competition a diploma. The winners shall receive the following cash prizes:
1st Place: $50,000 Mexican Pesos
2nd Place: $30,000 Mexican Pesos
3rd Place: $20,000 Mexican Pesos
9.- GENERAL RULES AND AWARDS PRESENTATION
The selected projects and the date of the presentation of the awards shall be announced through this website. By submitting their works, the contestants agree to the general rules of the competition. Awards will only be presented to those who can prove to be the legitimate right holders of the winning works so as to free Expresión en Corto and Avon México of all possible doubts regarding the pertinence of rights.
